A Moroccan Dream at La Maison Arabe

Prominently positioned in the heart of Marrakech’s iconic medina and full of storied heritage, La Maison Arabe stands as one of the city’s greatest hotels dating back as far as 1946.

A jewel in the ever-growing portfolio of Cenizaro Hotel & Resorts, this charming boutique hotel is one of two properties owned by the group in Marrakech alongside its other properties around the world across Mauritius and Maldives to name a few.

As Marrakech’s first riad hotel, the opulent and unmistakably Moroccan property is discreetly accessed via a small passageway just off the legendary Jemma el Fna square which leads to reveal the picturesque and intimate hotel, restaurant, spa and cooking school.

Set across just 45 rooms, La Maison Arabe evokes the grandeur of a majestic riad and has the outstanding hospitality one would expect of such a hotel but without the sense of being overcrowded, synonymous with some of the other properties in the area.

The rooms and suites are brimming with character, refined elegance and the décor Morocco is so well known for. Spaciously designed, most come with a fireplace and a private outdoor space, be it a terrace, private balcony or patio area. Some also offer private jacuzzis – perfect for basking in the sun and overlooking the city at night.

Luxuriously appointed, the rooms, many of which overlook the perfectly-manicured gardens are equipped with everything needed to create the perfect home-away-from-home, think Nespresso machines, satellite television and cosy king-size beds wrapped in sumptuous linens to set the tone.

As you explore the rest of the magical grounds of the hotel, you’ll want to also indulge in the gastronomic delights at the heart of La Maison Arabe’s origins when it originally opened as the medina’s first restaurant open to tourists and visitors before its revival in the 90’s as it transitioned to become the hotel it is today.

With a choice of two restaurants, the hotel has also become a go-to nightspot for outside visitors who come to discover the flavours of Le Restaurant, which specialises in traditional Moroccan Fare and the very instagrammable poolside restaurant, Les Troise Saveurs serving breakfast daily and an international menu in the evenings.

Entertainment is a daily occurrence over dinner, so make a night of it as you savour the exquisitely prepared French, Moroccan and Asian dishes as you take in the beats of traditional Arab-Andalusian music next overlooking the main pool.

Perhaps the highlight of this magical place is its offering of exclusive resident access to the hotel’s very own Country Club, just a fifteen-minute drive by complimentary shuttle over to the Palmeraie; the club is an oasis away from the bustle of the main city. Be sure to include a day spent at the club as part of your itinerary and make the most of some downtime next to the large pool, followed by a spot of lunch and a walk around the luscious gardens.

As well as its tranquil country club, La Maison Arabe’s cooking school is also a must-do, a first for Marrakech; you can try your hand at preparing authentic Moroccan cuisine either at the country club amongst the gardens or at the hotel, all led under the direction at expert dadas – you’ll be mastering tagine in no time.

Finish your stay in this marvel of a hideaway with a much-needed retreat to the spa at La Maison Arabe. Evoking the same traditional aesthetic as the rest of the hotel, the spa is a relaxing haven down in the basement offering an array of age-old treatments and what is amongst the best hammam ritual in the city; prepare to leave feeling revived and rejuvenated.
