Rafael Nadal joined the likes of Maria Sharapova, Grigor Dimitrov, Kevin Anderson, Pablo Carreño Busta, Lucas Pouille, Richard Gasquet, Hyeon Chung and Karen Khachanov for this year’s Aspall Tennis Classic at The Hurlingham Club in the run-up to Wimbledon.
Marking the tournament’s 25th Anniversary, the Aspall Tennis Classic is best known for its traditional English surroundings in the 42-acre grounds of the club and its star-studded spectators which have included Eleanor Tomlinson, Sol Campbell and Romeo Beckham over previous years.
Commenting on playing at the tournament for the seventh occasion, Nadal said ‘“I am excited to be playing the Aspall Tennis Classic at the Hurlingham Club on its 25th anniversary. It’s always great to play in front of UK fans so I can’t wait to return this week. I’m working hard and enjoying every week as it comes, so this is the perfect way to warm up for Wimbledon.”
Highlights this year included an intense match between Maria Sharapova and Maria Sakkari who opened the tournament and Friday’s match which saw Lucas Pouille take on Nadal.
