Perfume as an Art: Tiziana Terenzi

Merging the realms of traditional perfumery and objet’s d’art, Tiziana Terenzi is a family owned brand producing artistic fragrance and candles with an Italian heritage.

Established initially as Cereria Ternezi in 1968, the founder of the brand, Evelino Terenzi quickly became renowned for making Paschal Candles for the local churches of Cattolica and it was from there the brand was born.

Today, the legacy of the eponymous brand is directed under the ownership of Evelino’s children, who relaunched the company under its current name in 2012, working together, Tiziana oversees the creative vision for the brand, while Paolo Terenzi is the nose behind the enchanting fragrances.

Both coming from creative backgrounds, Tiziana’s career as a jewellery designer is echoed throughout the distinct packaging of the brand and Paolo stands as one of Italy’s most-loved perfumers with his portfolio including the creation of fragrances and candles for the likes of Acqua di Parma, Dior and Gucci.

The latest collection in the Tiziana Terenzi range is the Luna Collection, and three new fragrances pay homage to the winged horse from which the collection takes its inspiration.

Paolo Terenzi

Caput Mundi named after the Latin reference of Rome as the capital of the world follows a journey of Paolo and Tiziana with their family and grandparents to the iconic Italian capital.

The fragrance encapsulates the unique emotion the pair feel when they toss coins into the magical Trevi Fountain to then open their eyes and discover a full moon brimming with prosperity and eternal beauty. A woody, flowery mix of notes dedicated to the moon the fragrance opens with sweet top notes of Bulgarian Rose, Tea Rose and Lily of the Valley and Cabreuva Wood. Stronger, more sensual notes of Black Indian Oudh, Sandalwood and Cashmere Wood sit at the heart and base of the fragrance echoing the cherished city of Rome in a few drops.

Following in the footsteps of the cherished memories evoked by Caput Mundi, the second newly launched edition in the collection is Lince, an Extrait de parfum dedicated to Sicily. Derived from the double constellation of stars, the Latin name of the fragrance marks the stars that empower the scent. Seductive and sensual, top notes of Bergamot and Star Anise are married with sweeter notes of Vanilla and the signature Musk from the Ternezi library.

The last debut to join the collection is Spirito Fiorentino a vibrant fragrance celebrating the traditions of Tuscany. A nod towards the artistic elements of the brand, Spirito Fiorentino commemorates the renowned artists who lived in Florence. Presented in a red bottle taken from the Aries moon, the scent gracefully opens with floral notes of Purple Lily and Jasmine and warms to a wood-based heart of Sandalwood, Birch and Musk.
