HUBLOT launches the official ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP 2019 watch

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is here! First watch brand to work with the ICC, Hublot is the Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Hublot will time every 48-over match, from the opening game on 30 May to the final on 14 July, at the event that is taking place in the UK and Wales across the most iconic cricket venues.

Five years of qualification, 10 teams, 48 matches, six-and-half weeks of competition – the ICC Cricket World Cup is the pinnacle of the one-day game. The format is simple: all teams play each other in a full round robin format and the top four teams progress to the semi-finals, where the winners of those contests the final.

Official Hublot Ambassador and Australian cricket legend Michael Clarke lifted the World cup trophy in 2015. And the former Australia captain will be in the UK on commentary duties during the tournament this year.

In May, Hublot welcomed its newest cricketing Friend of the Brand, Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins. Pat is in the form of his life coming into the tournament and will be looking to help Australia defend their title on English soil.

Other Friends of the Brand involved in the tournament include Rohit Sharma, who will take to the field of play as India’s one-day vice-captain; and former England captains Michael Vaughan and Kevin Pietersen, who will serve as commentators during the tournament.

The tournament is held every four years. And this year, the Swiss watch company presented the Hublot Clock. The clock will be on display at The Oval cricket ground until 17 June. Then it will be relocated to Lords, the iconic home of cricket where the final will be played, until 14 July.

At Baselworld in March, Hublot introduced the Classic Fusion Chronograph ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 watch, a new cricket watch created by the Swiss watchmaker. The 45mm titanium piece is a celebration of cricket and features a number of clever touches pointing to the tournament. The grey and red detailing is inspired by the event’s logo. The hands of the twin counters for the chronograph minutes and small seconds are shaped like cricket bats. The triple appliqué hour marker at 12 o’clock mirrors the three wooden stumps guarded by a batsman. And the sapphire case back is decorated with the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 logo. The special watch is powered by a skeletonised automatic chronograph calibre. Only 100 pieces will be made and will be available in the Hublot boutiques from the start of the World Cup.

We had a pleasure to join Hublot CEO, Ricardo Guadalupe and Hublot ambassadors including the World’s bestselling contemporary artist, Richard Orlinski and renowned tattoo artist Maxime Plescia-Buchi, to officially inaugurate an exhibition presented at Harrods, celebrating Hublot’s 2019 partnerships. The key installation of this exhibition, a monumental Green Wild Kong with Hublot branding designed by Richard Orlinski. 

Hublot paid tribute to its United Kingdom partners by unveiling three dedicated windows on Brompton Road as well as an exhibition of sculptures occupying the Fine Watch Atrium. The exhibition space which has been cleverly split into four main components, highlights Hublot’s most successful partnerships in the United Kingdom, giving an immersive experience for each. Hublot presents the new Ferrari Safety car and six Baselworld Ferrari models launched in celebration of the partnership.  Three new Unico Ferrari pieces celebrating the 90th Anniversary of Scuderia Ferrari demonstrate the brand’s unparalleled attention to detail for their collaborative editions, harnessing multiple inspirations drawn directly from the Ferrari cars themselves.

Hublot has always made a point of honour to offer a unique and immersive experience to customers and aficionados. That is why Harrods is the perfect partner for Hublot to unveil this exhibition. Since the opening of the Hublot boutique at Harrods in 2010, we both have had the opportunity of collaborating on many initiatives and creative campaigns such as the Art of Fusion exhibition in 2017 and the Hublot Champion’s Advice Campaign in 2018. Celebrating the partnership with renowned tattoo artist Maxime Plescia-Buchi, a dedicated lounge has been created set amongst the intricate geometric designs synonymous with Maxime’s artistic style. Presented alongside are the two new Big Bang Sang Bleu novelties, which represent the horological expression of a tattoo, set in motion with timeless precision, unifying materials and crafts through geometry by Sang Bleu’s founder.

The final space within the exhibition focused on Hublot’s motto; The Art of Fusion, which is the defining philosophy behind the brand’s design, partnerships, materials and craftsmanship. Demonstrating an array of materials and styles, the Art of Fusion installation showcases the many facets of the brand and the level of intricacy that goes into each of the pieces.

For the duration of the installation, Harrods will have exclusivity of the Classic Fusion Aerofusion Orlinski Green edition which is limited worldwide to just 100 pieces.

In a parallel exhibition, Hublot has taken over the iconic Fine Watch Room Atrium within the Harrods Fine Watch department. Set at the base of the sweeping stairs and against the unique white marble, an enormous Richard Orlinski Wild Kong sculpture appears cleverly crafted in the same Green Pantone as the Classic Fusion Aerofusion Orlinski Green edition. With its arms raised in triumph holding the Hublot logo above its head, the Kong sculpture honours the partnership with Richard Orlinski and Hublot perfectly.

HUBLOT AND MARC FERRERO CELEBRATE WOMEN, HEROINES OF MODERN TIMES

Hublot and Marc Ferrero, the artist behind Storytelling Art, unveil the Big Bang One Click Marc Ferrero. Paying homage to the 21st century woman, who distinguishes herself through the multiplicity of her roles, in this exclusive timepiece she is embodied as the heroine of modern times. This collaboration marks an exploratory approach to art and watchmaking.

The dial tells the story of this heroine of modern times with ‘Lipstick’, an iconic work by the artist. Enigmatic behind her dark glasses, she remains majestic in the face of the unexpected and affirms her femininity, armed with her lipstick. Spinels in shades of red, topazes for the turquoise version, and forty- two fine stones decorate the bezel of the new 39-mm case, which is adjusted to her feminine wrists. With one touch of its “One Click” patented fastening system, the leather strap makes way for a version in alligator and rubber, a touch of sophistication appropriate for the moment. Available in red and turquoise, the special series will be available in 50 copies of each tone.

Berkeley Bespoke had the pleasure to attend Hublot Loves Art series during Art Basel Miami, together with the street artists and Hublot brand ambassador, Shepard Fairey and friend of the brand Tristan Eaton, alongside famed American photojournalist Martha Cooper and curator and street art authority Evan Pricco.

Hosted in a private mansion on the exclusive Palm Island off South Beach, the interactive art talk and private dinner brought to life Hublot’s prominent art partnerships celebrating with VIPs, media, influencers, and friends of the brand. Notable attendees included CEO of Best Buddies Anthony Shriver, Ferrari Squadra Corse driver Martin Fuentes, and artist CRIME BY DESIGN. Guests enjoyed a host of surprise double-billing of entertainment including a DJ set by Shepard Fairey himself!

Hublot welcomed Shepard Fairey, American contemporary street artist and graphic designer, as an official brand ambassador earlier this year and launched the Big Bang Meca-10 Shepard Fairey timepiece in celebration of the creative partnership. The model is part of the Big Bang Meca-10 family, a newer innovation on Hublot’s signature style with the brand’s in-house manual movement, a gear-driven mechanical aesthetic, and a 10-day power reserve. Accentuating this mechanical architecture, an opening at 3 o’clock sees Shepard Fairey’s “STAR GEAR” logo.

Berkeley Bespoke had the pleasure to attend a fascinating evening hosted by Hublot and Nicky Jam during the Art Basel week in Miami. The night, where Hublot has unveiled the Big Bang Meca-10 Nicky Jam watch with a model available in three versions, designed in collaboration with the urban music singer, star of the charts and brand ambassador.

Nicky Jam became a Hublot ambassador in June of this year and it seemed only natural for the Nyon watchmaker to work with the internationally renowned singer. After topping the charts in 2015 with the success of his track “El Perdon”, he had the whole World singing this summer with “Live it Up”, the official song of the 2018 FIFATM World Cup in Russia, a competition for which Hublot is the Official Timekeeper. As if that were not enough, at the same time, he reached new heights with his single “X (Equis)”, which is approaching 1.4 billion views on YouTube!

It was in front of an audience of select guests – VIPs, stars and friends of the brand – that Hublot celebrated the talent of Nicky Jam during a lively party at The Temple House, Miami. For the occasion, the prestigious venue in the heart of the South Beach district saw itself covered in light: its façade and its interior walls served as a screen for a mapping animation and artistically projecting films and photographs.

It was in this sumptuous setting that Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of the brand, gave a warm speech thanking Nicky for joining the Hublot family, and unveiled the first fruits of this collaboration: the Big Bang Meca-10 Nicky Jam watches.

These watches come in three different versions based on the famous Big Bang, the Swiss brand’s icon. With a 45-mm diameter, they are powered by the HUB1201 manufacture calibre, whose innovative construction reveals, on the dial side, all of the original imbrication of its 10-day power reserve that gave this model its name: Meca-10! As Nicky Jam sings in one of his hits: “…sin parar, sin parar!” For the first time the watch is skeletonised and gold-plated, thus offering the piece a brand-new look. For the first time, to highlight the launch of the exclusive limited edition, images of the watch were projected over iconic London monuments including The Tate Modern, Marble Arch, The Wellington Arch, The National Gallery, Millennium Bridge, Tate Britain and Baker Street.

The Hublot Classic Fusion Bronze Bucherer Blue Edition features an elaborately designed bronze case and a mechanical automatic movement. This fascinating mix of opposites resulted in a truly unique approach to creating the new timepiece for the Bucherer Blue Editions. As a modern day innovator in the world of Swiss luxury timepieces, Hublot hosted an Art of Fusion themed celebration inspired by London. The ribbon cutting ceremony was hosted by Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe together with Chelsea FC players; David Luiz, Olivier Giroud, Ross Barkley and Marcos Alonso officially opening the sleek 1,078 square feet boutique featuring innovative retail technology and ‘Pop-Art’ paintings portraying the iconic Hublot Big Bang watches.

The moment also marked the extension of the Hublot partnership with Chelsea FC for another three years – firmly establishing Hublot as the watch brand who loves football! During the ribbon Cutting, Chelsea FC players presented Ricardo Guadalupe with their official jersey, with the number 92 on the back, a reference to the London Flagship boutique being the 92nd opening for the brand. Chelsea FC also presented an illustrated map that marks the route from Chelsea FC’s, Stamford Bridge stadium to the Hublot Flagship boutique in Bond Street, signed on the evening by the players.

The design is incredible, an interactive table allows clients to make Hublot watches appear and disappear using tactile screens. Paying tribute to the Hublot association with the Art World, both floors are adorned with ‘Pop Art’ paintings inspired by the iconic Big Bang range.

This opening demonstrates not only the strength of the brand, which has succeeded since the birth of the Big Bang iconic model in 2005 to become one of the leading luxury brands of its positioning, but also Hublot’s willingness to constantly challenge fine watchmaking boundaries while offering the highest level of service to its clients. A new step for Hublot in London which will, for sure, serve as a springboard for Hublot in the United Kingdom… and Worldwide!

To continue the celebrations with a champagne reception and dinner by Heros de Agostinis, Executive Chef at Beck’s, who served a menu of classic Italian dishes, with seasonal British ingredients.
