Evoking true Southern Californian style, two exciting new hotels, The Seabird Resort and Mission Pacific Hotel have opened after 14 years in the making having been developed by the founder of Value Retail (notably behind the Bicester Village Shopping Collection) Scott Malkin and his firm S. D. Malkin Properties. With both properties taking enviable beachfront locations, the sister hotels both boast world-class amenities, top dining and beautifully designed rooms, many of which have ocean views.
The first of the two is The Seabird Resort, an oceanfront oasis with 226 rooms along with a host of lifestyle experiences and expansive facilities. Aimed at families and couples alike, the modern yet refined take on a classic beachfront retreat offers everything from an impressive pool deck overlooking the ocean to a poolside club offering guests daytime cocktails and snacks. Perfect for some downtime, this tranquil sanctuary also features a state-of-the-art spa and beauty lounge specialising in farm-to-sea treatments.
Set to be the place to be, The Seabird Resort is also decked with almost 20,000 square feet of ocean-view meeting and function spaces as well as The Piper Restaurant headed by renowned chef Kurtis Habecker serving innovative cuisine with ingredients locally sourced from San Diego.
The second of the new openings is Mission Pacific Hotel, an upscale hotel with 161 rooms which includes 38 luxe suites all kitted out with warm interiors and plush bedding. Capturing the spirit of Southern California, this charming property offers a realm of enriching touches from a 24-hour fitness centre to a library and 13,000 square feet of function space. Perhaps most notable, however, is the hotel’s rooftop pool and jacuzzi and its beach kiosk ensuring guests have everything from towels and chairs to umbrellas and sunscreen.
With an equally satisfying mix of dining options as its neighbouring counterpart, Mission Pacific also features a Valle, a Guadalupe Valley kitchen headed by celebrated chef Roberto Alcocer and a decadent dessert bar which is housed in the iconic Graves House which dates back nearly 140 years.
